Let's Meet in Berlin on June 13

LoRaWAN Challenge Winner To Be Crowned

Next week will see a winner declared among the five finalists of our LoRaWANStartup Challenge, and the final choice will be tough.

The number of outstanding applicants we saw made it difficult to choose just five finalists. Ishows the growing breadth and strength of the LoRa ecosystem.

The finalists are:

  • ChirpyWAN (USA) – Ready-to-use deployment application to build, test, and validate LoRaWAN networks.
  • Skysens (Turkey) – End-to-end LoRaWAN digital transformation solution.
  • Polygravity (Germany)– Distributed ledger-based billing solution for LoRaWAN roaming.
  • ConnectedFresh (USA) – Real-time temperature monitoring and cold-chain tracking.
  • Sensedge(Slovenia) – Developer of IoT sensors at large scale. Their first product, the Senstick, is a quality, cost-effective IoT sensor using LoRaWAN connectivity to send readings of air temperature, relative humidity and air pressure.

The finalists show the robust growth across the LoRaWAN platform. The LPWAN Ecosystem Fund’s goals include building an ecosystem of strategic  investors and stakeholders focused  on leveraging LPWAN to propel  Connected Industry.

That means a focus on expanding the supply of end devices with compelling use cases (like Sensedge), activating the demand side by adding value in those end devices (like ConnectedFresh and Skysens) and enabling enterprise deployment capabilities (like Polygravity and ChirpyWAN).

The adoption in LoRa technology continues to build. In a recent earnings call with chipmaker Semtech, they announced over 300,000 gateways had been deployed with 130 network operators, a footprint that could support over 2 billion end-nodes.

The finalists will pitch live at the LoRa Alliance Annual Members Meeting  in Berlin on June 13th for a chance to win $10,000 cash prize. Finalists also receive a one-year Adopter membership to the LoRa Alliance, complimentary booth space at the event, and will be publicly announced by both Momenta and the LoRaAlliance in addition to many other perks.

“I am impressed with the quality and diversity of the applicants participating in the LoRaWAN Challenge,” said Donna Moore, CEO of the LoRa  Alliance. “It demonstrates the diversity of LoRaWAN applications that are being implemented in the market.  I look forward to meeting the LoRaWAN challenge finalists and congratulating the winner.”

In addition to Lee, our partners Ken Foster, Ben Steven, Stephen Berard and Laura Westby will be attending the annual meeting. Please reach out to us if you want to meet. Good luck to our finalists.
